Sadako and the thousand paper cranes

We are reading a book in class called Sadako and the thousand paper cranes. It is about a girl who lives in Hiroshima and was two years old when the atomic bomb was dropped.Ten years later (when she was twelve) she died of Leukemia (the disease spread by the bomb).

We have looked at a video and summarised it.Here is my summary-

  1. President Truman gave Japan a chance to surrender but they didn’t
  2. August 6th 1945 Hiroshima was bombed and 200,000 died
  3. August 9th 1945 Nagasaki was bombed and 75,000 died
  4. President Truman didn’t give Japan warning about the second bombing

This is a really sad story, but I think you should read the book.It is quite good.
